My Handy Little Helpers

These are out of order too, but too cute to leave out. These were taken in Octber of my Handy Little Helpers that I love SO much!

Thanksgiving at Possum Trot Ranch 2009

Our second stop for Thanksgiving was with Justin's family at Nanny's. For some reason though, I didn't get a single picture. This is so not like me, but oh well, I can't go back in time.

For the third stop we headed out to the Possum Trot Ranch. Slim and Gretchen have done such a wonderful job out there! The kids loved it, as they always do!

Slim and Ryan must be having a deep conversation!

This is where Sydney asked PaPa to build her a tree house!

Double Trouble

This melts my heart! Cutter was SO excited to go hunting with Wormie. That is all he talked about Thanksgiving Day! However, Ryan had to convince him that the Cabota was too big to go deer hunting, and they needed to take the four-wheeler!

My boys!Ryan, thank you so much for taking Cutter with you! You are such a huge part of his life, and he looks up to you more than you'll ever know! I love you for that, and I know he does too!
Forty five minutes later Ryan brought Cutter back from his first deer hunting experience! Ryan said he did fine, but was bored. I'm sure he wouldn't keep his mouth shut, and scared away what deer there were. Cutter told me all about his adventure! He drove the four-wheeler a long ways, and that Wormie had to carry him down (or up) a big hill into a deer's house, and that he had to be quiet! Ryan, he may not have been the best partner, but it's something he'll remember the rest of his life. Thank you so much!

As soon as he got back, he found his way to PaPa's tractor...

...and Hudson took the go-cart!

We had a blast at the Possum Trot Ranch, and can't wait to see everyone again! Next time though, I'm going to take pictures of all the 'older' people, and not just the kids!

Thanksgiving 2009 at Dad's

The kids and I made three stops this year for Thanksgiving! We usually only have two, but ALL my mom's family was in town, so we made ourselves welcome at the Ranch too!

First stop was Dad and Hanaba's.

Cutter thinks he owns this grill! He made us all hot dogs out of charcoal! They were very yummy, you should try one!

Since Rylee started basketball I conned her into telling Dad that he needed to cut down all the trees and bushes that had taken over the basketball court in the backyard. Low and behold, when we got over there Thursday morning, Ryan and Dad had cleared the court! So now it was GAME ON! (Thank you both for your hard work!)

Now that the court had been cleared, ours names were visible again! Can you believe we poured the concrete 25 years ago? Dang I feel OLD!

Ryan wouldn't take a normal picture! I still love you!

The best of several pictures!

Silly boys!

Cutter wouldn't cooperate this time. Do you think he was copying his Uncle?

Cooking is NOT my Forte

I love the Thanksgiving holidays, but I can do without the cooking! It's just not my cup of tea. I've come to the conclusion that I'd rather be using any power tool than be stuck in a kitchen for six hours! My kitchen was a disaster, and since I wasn't giving my kids all the attention, my house was too!

I've been trying to duplicate my Uncle Blackies turkey for the last few years. His recipe says to make 'holes' in the turkey. I got so much crap for using a drill last year that I bought several kitchen items to try and replace the drill this year. However, the injector was too small, the big eye dropper thing didn't work, so I resorted to what I KNEW would work...a 1/2 drill bit! Besides, the 'holes' had to be big enough to stuff a half a piece of raw bacon and a bunch of other stuff that I blended together!

Roo finally decided to help, and shook up the cranberry salad!

Oma, Our Special Angel!

The kids and I go visit my mom quite frequently. I know to some people cemeteries are a scary place, but I don't want my kids to be afraid of them. In fact, my kids love going to see Oma.
Can you believe I've been taking Rylee there for six and a half years? Rylee has asked enough questions, and pieced together enough information to know that it's not really my 'mom.' Cutter, on the other hand, has no idea. All he knows is that he gets to sit on Oma's lap.
That's something Rylee started when she was little. She would sit on the headstone and tell me she was sitting on Oma's lap. It's so bittersweet to watch, but I love every minute of it, and I know my mom does too! They sing to her, pick her flowers, collect rocks to give to her, play ring-around-the-rosies, and just act silly sometimes. I'm sure some people that drive through while we are there wonder what in the world we are doing. In my opinion, my mom has my kids undivided attention, and loves to watch and listen to them! I know my mom is watching over us all the time, but it's these special moments that we talk about my mom that keep her alive within us.

I'm not a reader, but I love the Mitch Albom books. I've read all four more than once. One of mom's doctor's at UT Southwest recommended the family read Tuesday's With Morrie when she was first diagnosed with ALS. It is such a true recollection that I cry every time I read it. It is so real, and brings back so many memories. Albom's newest book, Have A Little Faith, reminds us that the way a person lives on, generation to generation, is by the memories we share. I'm going to make sure my kids know who their Oma is so that she WILL live on long after I'm gone!

I miss you Mom, and still love you all the way around the world!

No, I'm on Karen's Team

One November Friday night, we all went to Nanny's to eat and play games. We used to do this every Friday night, but it has become few and far between as of late. It's really fun now that Rylee is old enough to play with us, and Karsen is there to help entertain Cutter!

Miss Rylee Elizabeth and Karsen Elizabeth

Here's a little side note...I got a text from Ashley today telling me that while she and Karsen were looking at Halloween picture, she giggled and said "Roo Roo!" That just melts my heart! It's not my child that is learning to talk, but rather my child that is being looked up to and adored for just being her!

Hahaha...this cracks me up! Cutter loves to get down and crawl with Karsen! I'm just waiting for the day when they crawl into TROUBLE together!

Cutter decided to join in the fun. Although he wanted no part in the loosing boys team! He wanted Karen to help him, and he was going to be on the WINNING girls team!

Cutter + Buster = Best Buds
They LOVE to aggravate each other, and get along so well!
With Justin being on the road 99% of the time, I am so thankful for the boys in Cutter's life. Buster, you have played a HUGE role in his life, and I cannot thank you enough. I'm glad that he wants to go to your house, and lets Karen bathe him, and that you let him jump in bed with you, but just wait...I bet you end up on the floor the first night he actually spends the night! He's a side ways sleeper! Don't say I didn't warn you!

Rylee and The Mighty Pistons!

Rylee decided last minute that she wanted to give basketball a try! So, I registered her, take her to practice from 7:30-8:30pm on Thursday nights at the North Side YMCA. Now that's a lot to ask for on a school night, but we've managed to do it without any major falling outs, so far!

The first game was very upsetting for Rylee. My assumption is that she had no idea what to expect. I don't watch any basketball on ESPN (especially during football season), I've shot the ball with her before, but never in a game setting. So, I dusted her off, and encouraged her all week not to give up. Surprisingly, she was so excited and eager to practice the next week. Saturday came, and she was even more pumped to play! She did an awesome job in the game. She was upset she didn't make a basket, but was very aggressive, and knew exactly where she was supposed to be. I was a gleaming mommy after the game. She conquered her fears, and gave it her all!

This was only week two, so I'm very excited to see how she progresses throughout the season!

Go Pistons!
